Major-General Richard Rohmer is a mediator and arbitrator exclusively with ADR Chambers.
General Rohmer was called to the Bar in 1951, and became a Queen's Councel in 1960.
He was in Partner Lang, Michener & Cranston until 1959. He was a
litigation junior to Roland Michener (later Governor-General) and also to
Walter Williston.
General Rohmer specialed
in litigation and administrative law, with a major practice before OMB and the
Ontario Highway Transport Board. He is the author of Practice and Procedure
before the OHTB. He handled all of the basic processing of Bramalea and Flemingdon Park,
among others.
He was appointed Chairman of the Ontario Royal Commission on Book
Publishing from 1970-1972 with Dr. Marsh Jeanneret and Dalton Camp as members.
In the 1970s, he was appointed counsel to the Royal
Commission on Metro Toronto (Robarts).
Major-General Rohmer was Chancellor of the
University of Windsor for eleven years 1976-1989 and was reappointed to that
post for the period 1996-1997.
In June of 1992 he formed the firm Rohmer
& Fenn with Robert Fenn. The firms substantial practice is almost
totally civil litigation with a focus on Aviation Insurance Law and Land
Use.
General Rohmer recieved his mediation training from the Stitt Feld Handy Group,
a division of ADR Chambers.
